Key Responsibilities

• • Aligns informatics goals towards enterprise-wide milestones.
• • Serves as a member of key organizational committees and teams to ensure that clinical informatics voice is integrated into operations and planning.
• • Supports Presbyterian Medical Group and clinicians on practice efficiency tools.
• • Leads, supervises, and develops the inpatient and ambulatory EMR informatics design, implementation, training, and support teams.
• • Works closely with medical staff leadership.
• • Reports progress and results at key leadership meetings.
• • Leads development of clinical standards supporting patient care, the use of evidence-based practices and ensures that clinical guidelines receive approval by organized medical staff bodies.
• • Leads design of clinical pathway models and other innovations with physician, nursing and administrative leadership, and will assist in modification of these models to gain maximum efficiency and effectiveness in the patient care process.
• • Ensures that clinical information solutions meet external safety and enterprise quality requirements, incorporates evidence and best practices including utilization of medical services.
• • Leads in partnership with Technology Service Organization (TSO) to design and implement solutions to translate clinician requirements into specifications for existing and new clinical and care delivery systems.
• • Leads the selection of new information technology in the clinical space and identifies and achieves the return on investment for informatics projects.
• • Participates in the Annual Rhythm planning process to ensure that comprehensive capital and tactical plans are developed and implemented for informatics and clinical decision support.
• • Leads and supports Clinical Technology Transformation Team (CTT).
• • Is a key partner to support end user training and education with the clinical technology transformation team (CTT).
• • Leads the physician builder program and physician champions.
• • Engages patient care providers with varying roles including physicians, advanced practitioners, nursing staff, clinical ancillary, quality, and health information records professionals to contribute to the improvements in information systems.
• • Develops empathy and understanding of physician needs and builds relationships with physicians to ensure support of IT initiatives.
• • Is highly responsive to users’ needs, including training, to assure widespread acceptance and provider use of the clinical systems.
• • Chairs and facilitates clinical advisory groups to provide broad-based input into the design of the clinical information system to support excellence in patient care and clinical quality.
• • Maintains knowledge base.
• • Leads and develops support structures to maintain the existing knowledge base in the EMR, including but not limited to the biannual review process for order sets and the review and maintenance of clinical decision support tools.
• • Supports population health, Data & Analytics, Meaningful Use, Quality Initiatives, MIPS, and Interoperability.
• • Leads and oversees in concert with Technology Service Organization (TSO) the design and implementation of information systems supporting MACRA/MIPS requirements, safety and clinical quality outcomes, meaningful use and P4P initiatives.
• • Designs, builds, and evaluates processes to ensure collection of discrete data for clinical purposes, including tracking and interpretation of outcomes.
• • Assists organization in developing systems to meet the reporting requirements at a patient, system, and population level.
• • Follows national trends in information technology.
• • Reviews medical informatics trends, experiences, and approaches, develops technical and application implementation strategies and assists in the development of strategic plans for clinical information systems.
• • Participates in clinical activities.
• • Provides patient care in appropriate clinical setting; maintains medical practice in area of specialty meeting all requirements.
• • Participates in applicable clinical process improvement initiatives.
