Target Expertise
- Senior attending physician at a teaching hospital (academic medical center or large tertiary-care institution).
- Specializes in a field with high diagnostic complexity, such as Intensive Care Medicine, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Hematology-Oncology, or Neuro-Critical Care.
- Routinely manages diagnostically challenging, multi-system cases requiring advanced clinical reasoning and interdisciplinary coordination.
Active Clinical & Research Workflows
- Actively involved in hands-on patient care (daily rounds, consult services, multidisciplinary meetings) rather than purely administrative or supervisory oversight.
- Engages in research that demands rigorous problem-solving, e.g.:
- Designing or interpreting clinical trials or translational studies.
- Performing complex differential diagnostic analyses from multi-omic or imaging data.
- Publishing case series that push diagnostic frontiers (e.g., emerging pathogens, rare autoimmune syndromes).
Career Stage & Credentials

Associate or full Professor of Medicine (or equivalent rank) continuing active bedside practice, OR
- Senior attending physician with ≥ 7 years post-fellowship experience and a national reputation for diagnostic expertise.
- Board-certified in relevant specialty; evidence of sustained scholarly output (peer-reviewed publications, guideline authorship, principal- or co-investigator roles on funded studies).
- Active mentor of residents/fellows; recognized for teaching excellence in clinical reasoning.
