Position Summary

The Regional Medical Affairs Director, West (RMAD) is a member of a field-based team which is an extension of the US Regional Medical Affairs organization. This position will report into the National Field Medical Executive Director and will initially serve in a Player/Coach role. They will be responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with specified investigators, key thought leaders, institutions, and organizations in their assigned geographical region. The RMAD will also lead a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) who focus on medical & scientific engagement with identified healthcare and decision maker stakeholders by providing medical and scientific support via scientific exchange, addressing customers medical and scientific informational needs, and collaborating in mutually identified areas of medical, education, clinical research, and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR). The RMAD is recognized as a team leader and an internal subject matter expert.

As a Coach

Direct a growing team of MSLs, ensuring they are well-trained on medical initiatives and corporate policies and procedures. Provide consistent and timely performance feedback to MSLs on the team based on observations of interactions with external stakeholders and metrics as part of the overall performance evaluation. Provide strong leadership to motivate the team and individual members to achieve execution excellence. Actively manage and coach a team of MSLs by encouraging professional and personal development, leading by example and nurturing individual growth to optimize team performance. Represent the field as the primary point of contact between the commercial and medical organization and leads the ongoing evolution of the medical and commercial collaboration model. Take a customer-centric, metrics based and data-driven approach to setting measurable goals and ensuring the MSL Management Team executes successfully in alignment with the US medical strategy. Provide leadership and strategic direction to the field medical team in order to achieve performance objectives as they ensure the MSLs effectively cultivate Key opinion leaders (KOL) relationships in academic and clinical medicine settings at the local, regional, and national levels in the field of endocrinology. Motivate direct reports to ensure their MSL teams perform to meet and even exceed quantitative and qualitative metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Assess and coach individuals, ensuring development plans will be executed as appropriate Accountable and responsible for the performance of their field medical team as well as for instilling a positive climate within their teams in alignment with Crinetics’ culture.

As a Player

identify, establish, and manage collaborative professional relationships with select Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), investigators, and key decision makers (KDMs) at a regional level to identify and addresses scientific needs regarding areas of therapeutic interest or products. Identify and develop relationships with national and regional medical and scientific KOLs consistent with the strategy and objectives of Medical Affairs and overall strategies in relation to our products. Identify and cultivate relationships with identified payer opinion leaders, formulary decision makers in practice and/or academia to discuss therapeutic areas important at Crinetics. Engage in scientific exchange and education about Crinetics’ compounds and emerging therapies and ensure appropriate dissemination of clinical and scientific information in relation to our products in a timely, ethical and customer-focused manner. (to include Individual meetings, Advisory boards, and scientific congresses) Work to pair our internal and external key customer’s educational and research needs with available Crinetics’ resources and provide latest emerging data in response to specific healthcare professional inquires Deliver against engagement plans for key decision makers and payer-accounts by managing in collaboration with Crinetics field-based and non-field- based colleagues. Assist with medical affairs activities, including medical information services and publication planning (abstracts, manuscripts etc.). Provide support as requested to advisory board meetings as well as other scientific activities, such as medical booth at scientific meetings. Capture and report medical insights using CRM to help inform the medical and clinical strategies. Conduct peer-level scientific discussions and maintains a reliable presence to ensure external stakeholders have a Medical Affairs contact within Crinetics who will serve as an expert relative to our product and scientific data and answer unsolicited medical information requests. Present clinical and health economic impact to formulary key decision makers within national and regional accounts, when requested. Communicate external stakeholder opinions, insights and feedback on new data, clinical trends and the evolving therapeutic area landscape to Medical Affairs headquarter teams to enhance scientific understanding and inform internal Medical Affairs.

Required

Education and Experience:

Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) in a related discipline strongly preferred and 10+ years of medical affairs experience. 8+ years in a Supervisory/leadership role. 2+ years of active clinical care or clinical research experience preferred. At least 5 years of previous Field Medical or Medical Affairs experience in the US or EU pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred. Clear understanding of regional medical practice, clinical decision-making and healthcare systems affecting patient care. Demonstrated strong understanding of clinical research trial design and execution. Proven experience managing direct reports, building teams, and leveraging relationships internally and externally. Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills and proven success working in a multi-functional team-based environment. Effective presentation skills to key stakeholders and key decision makers. Ability to work collaboratively across the organization to achieve corporate objectives is essential.

Preferred

Extensive knowledge of Endocrinology and or Rare Diseases in field medical affairs is strongly preferred

Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The Anticipated Base Salary Range: $197,000 - $246,000

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education.
