Full Job Description

Position Summary: Reporting to the Vice President, Global R&D Evidence, the Executive Director, Global Medical Affairs, CNS is a leadership position responsible for the strategic plans of all medical affairs associated with the development and commercialization of CNS products in the U.S. This individual is the therapeutic level lead and collaborates with other functional and department leaders across the organization to ensure appropriate Medical input in all facets of the organization. Working with TA leads across functions, they will ensure a CNS portfolio Global Medical strategy is in place and help dictate priorities and resources for the function. Leading a team of Medical Affairs professionals, they will ensure Otsuka has the medical insights needed to appropriately stay at the forefront of advancing the CNS areas of interest. The individual is accountable for the generation and communication of practice relevant information about the products and disease to improve patient care within the CNS portfolio.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Represents GLOBAL Medical Affairs on the R&D CNS committee Represents GLOBAL Medical Affairs on extended brand leadership team Represents GLOBAL Medical Affairs on joint alliance governance committees as applicable Represents GLOBAL Medical Affairs on cross functional CNS leadership teams including providing oversight of integrated brand strategy and plans Represents GLOBAL Medical Affairs on PRC governance committee Is a core member of the GLOBAL Medical Affairs Leadership team Responsible for the GLOBAL CNS evidence generation with Phase IIIB and IV studies, including Investigator Sponsored Studies and non-interventional studies Develops and provides CNS TA strategy and priorities to the GLOBAL Medical Affairs team Provides strategic guidance to ensure that Medical Affairs resources and activities are appropriately focused to deliver on CNS strategic plans in the GLOBAL. Ensures medical and scientific support and partnership to all key GLOBAL functional groups in R&D and commercial Interacts with experts in the field to obtain feedback on clinical aspects of products and new data generation, interpretation and dissemination and advocates for Otsuka prominence in CNS space Provides input into regulatory documents, including product labeling Accountable for resourcing of personnel and budget for GLOBAL Medical Strategy Participates in the evaluation of potential in-licensing candidates Helps establishes SOPs and sets standards to ensure that the medical strategy function operates effectively and efficiently Ensures compliance with all relevant Corporate Policies (CO) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Support Medical product commercialization and evidence generation for digital medicine and digital therapeutic products; serve as a member of the development and brand teams for all digital products Ensures development and growth of team members

Qualifications

M.D., D.O., PharmD, PhD or equivalent advanced degree is required CNS experienced required Minimum 15 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or medical research is required At least 10 years of Medical Affairs experience is required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required Strong computer skills with demonstrated experience in working with the Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Superior presentation skills that drive action and strategy is required Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team is required Ability to interact effectively with senior management is required Up to 20% travel is required, based upon business needs Position can be remote based

Minimum $245,454.00 - Maximum $381,110.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
