Establish a Flagship Surgical Training Program in the Heart of Atlanta

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is a 643-bed tertiary care center known for surgical innovation and excellence. As part of Piedmont Healthcare’s strategic academic expansion, this new General Surgery Residency Program will serve as a model of high-quality, patient-centered surgical education.

Position Overview

You will serve as the Founding Program Director for this new ACGME-accredited General Surgery program. You'll lead all aspects of its development—from curriculum to accreditation—and inspire the next generation of surgical leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement program mission and curriculum Lead faculty recruitment and mentorship Ensure ACGME compliance and readiness for site visits Integrate the residency with surgical specialties and hospital operations Model surgical professionalism and best practices in clinical care

Minimum Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school Board Certification in General Surgery Eligible for Georgia medical license Minimum of 3 years of GME experience

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Program Director or Associate PD experience Experience with program accreditation and leadership Interest in establishing fellowships in minimally invasive or critical care surgery
