Full Job Description

This is a regional role based out of South Central United States. Candidates must reside within the territory (TX, CO, AZ, CA, NM) and be able to travel regularly to academic centers and key institutions.


The Sr. MSL is a field-facing role focused on developing and maintaining professional clinical/scientific relationships with external medical experts (including pediatric neurologists, neuromuscular specialists, and neurologists) involved in the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.


As the clinical and medical expert on the company’s products and therapeutic areas, the Sr. MSL builds long-term relationships and establishes rapport with clinicians in hospitals, clinics, and academic centers through highly scientific product and disease state discussions that support the safe and effective utilization of ITF’s therapies.


This position will play a key role in supporting ITF’s 2025/2026 medical affairs goals by driving peer-to-peer engagement, gathering and synthesizing competitive intelligence, and contributing to internal initiatives such as ad boards, speaker trainings, and clinical insights projects.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in rare neuromuscular diseases, with a preference for prior experience in DMD. Comfort navigating complex scientific conversations, working autonomously in the field, and contributing to a collaborative and close-knit medical affairs team is essential.


Responsibilities:

Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare providers at key neuromuscular centers, scientific experts, cooperative study groups, and study sites within assigned territories. Build deep, trust-based relationships with pediatric neurologists and other specialists involved in the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy Collaborate with key professionals at the national, regional, and local level, engaging in scientific exchange relating to medical/clinical research data on givinostat. Capture medically/clinically relevant field insights to drive the evolution of strategic plans. Deliver, and may develop, fair-balanced and objective clinical and scientific presentations on disease state and unmet need in Duchenne muscular dystrophy to healthcare professionals (HCPs), payors, and patient organizations in response to unsolicited requests for information on the use of company products. Serve as a core liaison to key institutions, supporting ongoing and future clinical studies, investigator-initiated trials, and scientific collaborations. Support ongoing and future clinical studies with key centers. Attend national and regional medical meetings and symposia to engage in discussions with attendees and cultivate professional relationships from these contacts. Provide clinical input into ITF Therapeutics communications and materials, as well as participate in the training of new team members. Collaborate with external medical experts on medical affairs initiatives, including publications, medical education opportunities, and training as appropriate. Assist in the preparation and execution of scientific materials for marketed and pipeline assets, including delivering compelling presentations, assisting with slide preparation/review, and facilitating interactive discussion groups. Facilitate the accurate and timely submission of applications for unrestricted educational grants or research initiatives and requests for support of studies, per company policy. Maintain relevant information relevant to ITF’s therapeutic areas, and stays current on therapeutic advances Maintain a thorough awareness of medical/clinical, regulatory, compliance, and quality issues and processes as they apply to the ITF therapeutic areas and adheres to, and supports, the standards established by the company. Adhere to all corporate policies, SOPs, and compliance regulations, serving as a model of scientific integrity and ethical conduct in all interactions.



The Person

Qualifications and Experience:

Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, DNP, MSN, MS, or Genetic Counselor) with 5+ years of experience as Medical Science liaison. Experience supporting an orphan product and/or previous clinical experience in neuromuscular disorders, genetics, and/or rare disease. Experience with Duchenne muscular dystrophy/neuromuscular disorders is preferred. Experience supporting high-cost products that are distributed through a specialty pharmacy Demonstrated in-depth, hands-on experience working with healthcare providers and payers, while building strategic, long-term partnerships and developing tailored engagement plans that align with business and medical objectives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including scientific/technical writing and presentations, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly. Demonstrated success in interpreting scientific data and presenting research information to scientists and HCPs. Skilled in delivering high-impact presentations to both internal and external stakeholders with confidence. Ability to identify opportunities for presenting data at local, regional, and national conferences, and effectively present at these events when opportunities arise. Proven experience in developing and conducting engaging and informative training sessions to provide teams with the latest medical insights and industry best practices. Strong analytical skills to critically evaluate new data and translate findings into effective field strategies, while identifying data gaps and proactively proposing solutions. Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Excellent understanding of the pharmaceutical delivery process and the ability to work compliantly/appropriately within the industry. Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills, including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects, with experience in working on and leading projects and/or initiatives aligned to US Medical strategy, objectives, and tactics. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a personal automobile with an active vehicle insurance policy. Role requires travel daily to/from customer accounts and drive and/or fly long distances (distances will vary based upon the size of assigned territory). This position requires overnight travel, the amount of which will vary based upon the assigned territory, up to 75%. In addition to travel within the territory, overnight and/or weekend travel outside of the assigned territory is required. Daily entry to hospitals and other medical facilities is required. Must be able to comply with facility-specific vendor credentialing requirements, including training, background and drug checks, and proof of immunizations, as a condition of entry.
