Major Responsibilities

Lead and implement quality improvement initiatives, ensuring consistent delivery of safe, high-quality care across all facilities in the designated geographic division. Monitor clinical performance metrics and outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement. Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, guidelines, and enterprise-wide best practices. Collaborate with clinical leaders to align local strategies with enterprise-wide quality, patient safety and patient experience goals. Provide oversight of medical staff governance, credentialing, and peer review processes. Foster strong relationships with physicians, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and promoting clinical engagement. Facilitate effective collaboration among physicians, nursing leadership, and other clinical disciplines. Develop and lead initiatives to address medical staff wellness and burnout. Work closely with the divisional president and operational leaders to align clinical strategies with division goals and performance targets. Determine strategy and effective reporting relationships to ensure oversight of acute, ambulatory and medical group quality and safety performance. Participate in developing and executing business strategies to enhance clinical service lines, improve access to care, and optimize market performance. Ensure effective coordination between clinical and non-clinical operations to support seamless patient care delivery. Promote population health management strategies in coordination with system-wide initiatives. Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards. Collaborate with the enterprise risk management team to address clinical risks and implement mitigation strategies. Support enterprise-wide initiatives for infection prevention and control, patient safety, and high-reliability performance. Mentor and develop physician leaders within the market, promoting professional growth and succession planning. Facilitate ongoing leadership development programs in alignment with the health system’s leadership framework.

Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required

Active, unrestricted medical license in geographic location of work

Education Required

MD or DO degree; Master’s degree in healthcare administration or business preferred.

Experience Required

Minimum 10 years of clinical experience with a demonstrated track record of leadership in healthcare management. Prior experience in a CMO, CQO or equivalent role, preferably within a multi-hospital system or large healthcare organization. Strong background in clinical quality improvement, patient safety, and population health strategies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster trust, collaboration and engagement across diverse clinical teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience using clinical and operational data to drive improvements. Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and payer environments. Working knowledge, leadership experience and implementation of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., IHI, Malcolm Baldrige, LEAN/Six Sigma). Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in an expedient and decisive manner; makes timely decisions in stressful situations involving conflicting or delayed information. Sensitive to, understands and encourages cultural diversity throughout the system enterprise and the community. Demonstrates executive presence, is articulate and communicates in a highly engaging manner.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

This position requires relocation to the geographic division and regular travel within the market and occasional travel to other system locations.
