Description

The US Medical Director (0.25 FTE) will work closely with Rocket Doctor’s CEO and full-time leadership team to build and grow an exceptional clinical network across the United States, with an initial focus on California, New York, and Maryland. This role combines strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and team development, with direct accountability for quality, compliance, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Clinical Leadership

Work directly with the CEO to provide leadership and oversight for Rocket Doctor’s clinical operations across the United States. Ensure compliance with federal and state-specific telehealth regulations, licensing requirements, and clinical standards. Lead the development and implementation of clinical protocols, workflows, and quality assurance initiatives. Represent Rocket Doctor in clinical partnership discussions with healthcare institutions, payors, and regulatory bodies.

Team Building & Management

Build, lead, and mentor a nationwide team of US MD Leads, senior clinicians overseeing clinical quality, compliance, and operational performance in their regions. Support US MD Leads with aligned goals, clear expectations, and resources to meet Rocket Doctor’s standards and growth objectives.

Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Serve as the primary contact for clinical escalations and high-risk case reviews, working closely with RNs and PAs. Collaborate with product and operations teams to improve the virtual care platform and clinician experience. Work with patient care and provider success teams to monitor outcomes, patient satisfaction, and KPIs, driving continuous improvement. Provide guidance on the scope of practice, clinical appropriateness, and documentation standards for virtual care.

Industry & Innovation

Stay informed on emerging trends in telemedicine, digital health, and US healthcare policy. Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement to enhance the quality and reach of care.

Duties / Requirements

3-5+ years of experience as a practicing Physician in at least one US State Board certification in any medical discipline Actively licensed and practicing medicine in one of California, New York, or Maryland 2-3 years of experience working in a leadership role in a clinical practice Ideally has 2-3 years of experience working with a healthcare technology company Be organized, positive and uplifting. The US Medical Director is a representative of Rocket Doctor and is an exemplar of how we expect physicians working on our platform to perform and interact with patients and Rocket Doctor staff Maintain the standard of professionalism established by your state’s licensing body, as well as inform Rocket Doctor if you have any formal outstanding professionalism complaints. Be passionate about increasing access to care for patients in need across the United States. Troubleshoot and plan around emerging regulatory roadblocks and challenges Proactively manage the MD journey Maintain an active knowledge of EMRs, RD’s technology platform, as well as privacy requirements and other regulatory policies Possess business and technology savvy / acumen Engage with product leaders, physician leadership, and the development team for process improvement initiatives Maintain a professional and respectful relationship with all RD staff and patient correspondence Ability to work remotely, seek new challenges, and be self-motivated to build and develop a rapidly growing start-up

Work / Travel

Position is remote in the U.S. Must be able to adequately perform the above duties with reasonable accommodation. Requirements to be adjusted quarterly.
