About the Physician Executive of System Quality & Outcomes, Perioperative & Procedural Medicine

The Physician Executive of System Quality & Outcomes, Perioperative & Procedural Medicine serves as a strategic, administrative and operational executive leader for Orlando Health system-wide quality programs and performance, specifically focused on perioperative and procedural clinical practice. The Physician Executive is responsible for leading the system clinical quality team, interpreting and using data to drive quality decisions and work, partnering with leaders throughout the system to ensure quality performance is continually improving, and executing tactical plans that allow the overall system quality goals to be met.

Responsibilities

In coordination with the System Chief Quality Officer, develop recommendations for quality performance goals and timelines to be considered by senior leadership. Partnering with quality and operational leaders across the system, develops and executes tactical plans to achieve system, site, and business unit quality goals defined by the system CEO and senior leadership. Maintains accountability for the successful implementation of programs and initiatives related to quality performance. Develops and leads data driven quality improvement processes, aids in the development of quality procedures and policies, and maintains direct oversight of system quality team members. Participates in planning and developing strategic clinical programs and other organizational plans to achieve OHI goals. Successfully guides and supports operational and clinical leaders towards quality goals, while maintaining compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements. Interpret patterns and trends in quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring the most effective tactics are employed to improve clinical outcomes, maintain high efficiency, and eliminate patient harm. Synthesizes various data inputs to drive multi-disciplinary teams to consensus actions and desired outcomes. Develops and ensures that automated reporting and interventions tools are implemented and maintained effectively. Partners with physician leadership on implementation of culture and practice changes that support safety and consistency in clinical care. Integrates Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Information Technology solutions, including clinical decision support tools and analytics, to drive the best possible clinical outcomes. Fosters a culture of data-driven excellence that incorporates historical trends, insights, and foresights. Leads and oversees improvement initiatives related to evidence-based care, practice-based evidence, and care reliability. Provides expertise and leadership at all levels of the organization and acts as a senior leader resource for topics related to clinical care, quality performance, and care transformation. Guides OHI leaders in partnership with process improvement team members through identification of goals, process gaps and defects, and development of effectiveness measures, analysis, and reporting. Develops, supports, and promotes the use of process improvement tools throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Required Education

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. Board certified in perioperative specialty.

Required Licensure

Active license in the state of Florida as a Medical Doctor or Osteopathic Doctor. Maintenance of active clinical practice as mutually agreed upon.

Required Experience

Established clinical practice as a surgeon, anesthesiologist, or proceduralist. Progressive leadership responsibility in a multi-hospital system specific to health outcomes, quality of care, and patient safety. Significant experience in healthcare outcome measurement and data analysis, process improvement, and facilitation of practice through technology-based solutions. Significant experience with the use of quality and performance improvement tools and techniques. Experience building cohesive and effective teams, and fostering a supportive environment for growth.

Preferred Experience

Significant experience in leading improvement in publicly reported healthcare quality programs. Significant experience in medical informatics and Epic EHR clinical domains and clinical system design. Significant experience in epidemiology and population health.
