Position Description:
The University of Louisville's Campus Health Services is seeking a dynamic, experienced, board certified physician in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics and/or Occupational Medicine to assist with preventive and acute care of the University of Louisville students who are seen at two Campus Health Centers. This position requires MD or DO, Kentucky unrestricted license, DEA certificate, experience supervising nurse practitioners and recent experience in primary, urgent care and/or emergent care settings. Applicants must have experience and enthusiasm caring for adolescents and young adults. This is full time clinical position at Campus Health Services which requires faculty appointment in another department. (Position does not qualify for J 1 Visa waiver status.)
Duties: Under the general supervision of the Campus Health Services Executive Director, the physician works independently in the Student Health Center clinic performing a variety of duties associated with the acute, preventive and chronic ambulatory care of students. Duties include: physical examinations, including women's health exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures, counseling patients regarding medical problems and medication use, and recommending appropriate follow-up including consultation and referral. The position also requires precepting students and residents and supervising nurse practitioners. The physician must maintain an unencumbered license to practice medicine in the stat of Kentucky, must be board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics and/or Occupational Medicine.
Requirements:
- Graduate medical degree: MD or DO
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky
- Faculty appointment in another academic department
- Current Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics and/or Occupational Medicine
- Valid DEA certificate
- Minimum 3-5 years of primary care experience with the ability to perform minor office procedures relevant to scope of practice
- Experience treating common illnesses and injuries in young adults including uncomplicate orthopedic and psychiatric problems
- Knowledge and understanding of current clinical guidelines and recognized standards of care within the scope of practice, and enthusiasm to care for University of Louisville students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities
- Requires use of electronic medical records system in addition to basic knowledge of Word and Excel
- Functions well within a cohesive team environment and has strong interpersonal, cross-cultural and collaborative skills
