Full Job Description

PRIMARY ROLE:

The field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with medical professionals and other members of the scientific community. The MSL will be responsible for scientific exchange with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), education of healthcare providers on Emalex products and disease states of interest, and clinical research support. The candidate must reside in the Northeast Region covering - Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, or Vermont.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify territory Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and facilitate compliant engagement to build and maintain scientific relationships
  • Develop strategic territory management plans to provide needs-based, value-added services
  • Provide field-based medical and scientific support for Emalex products and therapeutic areas with KOLs, healthcare providers, third-party payers, and other managed care audiences in accordance with company policies and regulations
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Emalex, its products, and current medical and scientific research and publications in therapeutic areas of interest to Emalex
  • Deliver company-approved, high-quality medical/scientific presentations to a variety of audiences including formulary committees, sleep centers, and healthcare professionals
  • Provide support for researchers who are interested in conducting Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR), or who are interested in participation in Emalex-sponsored clinical trials
  • Provide medical/scientific support for critical Emalex activities including speaker training, advisory boards, and sales training as appropriate
  • Professionally represent Emalex at medical/scientific conferences via medical support, scientific session coverage, reporting field medical intelligence, and development of meeting reports for internal distribution
  • Lead MSL/Medical Affairs projects and initiatives
  • Provide leadership within the MSL team and serve as a mentor to less tenured MSL colleagues
  • Serve as an internal expert/consultant on cross-functional projects
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of field-based activities in accordance with MSL organization policies/guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in science-related field such as MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 3 years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or relevant clinical/research experience
  • Strong, current understanding of compliance issues related to the pharmaceutical industry and interactions with health care professionals
  • Prior research or clinical care experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated acumen in delivering scientific presentations
  • Tourette Syndrome, other movement disorder and/or other CNS experience preferred but not required


Senior MSL Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with prior Medical Science Liaison experience
  • Demonstrated leadership/mentorship experience
  • Ability to successfully execute on field medical responsibilities while working concurrently on medical/scientific projects


The annual base salary for this role is $190,000.00 - $230,000.00 This is a good faith estimate of the pay range for this position and offers will ultimately be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, education, and certifications. As such, final compensation may fall outside of this range. This position will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
