NYC Health Hospitals | Carter is seeking a Pulmonologist to work with a multidisciplinary team to manage and coordinate care for patients undergoing ventilator weaning and respiratory diseases. The role involves developing treatment plans, providing consulting services, and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- • Work with other dedicated attending hospitalist providers, Nurse Practitioners, and Respiratory Therapists.
- • Coordinate and oversee the care of patients being prepared for, and undergoing ventilator weaning.
- • Manage the care of respiratory diseases including acute and chronic respiratory failure, asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, lung cancers and other disorders.
- • Develop and deliver treatment plans including respiratory therapies, antibiotics, steroids and other medications.
- • Provide consulting services to other providers.
- • Provide biweekly oversight of the care of chronically ventilated residents in the Skilled Nursing Facility.
- • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as required and credentialled; e.g. bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, ultrasound (including POCUS).
- • Interact with all persons based on the organization’s ICARE values.
- • Document care and services rendered in the medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
- • Collaborate with other members of interdisciplinary team in the care of patients and residents, including the resident and/or family during admission, interdisciplinary meetings, and patient/family education.
- • Communicate with patients, residents and their loved ones/healthcare representative(s) in an effective and compassionate manner, including change in condition and other updates.
- • Communicate with workforce members, including supervisors, through team meetings/huddles to disseminate information routinely.
- • Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.
- • Complete all mandatory training/in-services that are assigned in a timely manner.
- • Seek career growth through Post-Acute Care applicable certifications.
- • Perform other professional activities as delegated by the Director of Pulmonary Medicine and/or the Chief Medical Officer.
- • Demonstrate safety awareness and follow protocols for fire, disaster, adverse events, infection control, and other safety practices.
- • Assist in the orientation/training of new/novice staff through unit-based education and competency.
- • Actively participate in quality assurance performance improvement activities.
Required
- • Active NYS Medical Licensure
- • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pulmonary Medicine.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Ideal Candidate Will
