Chief Clinical Officer

The Chief Clinical Officer leads and integrates efforts to provide safe, effective, and exceptional patient care across multiple care settings including acute hospitals, physician practices, outpatient, and post-acute facilities. This role oversees clinical leaders to achieve high quality, safe, and reliable care, manages risk and quality plans, fosters clinical innovation, and supports physician and clinician professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the deployment of the vision for safe and exceptional clinical care across MSD AdventHealth entire continuum of health care services
  • Lead the clinical team to meet the organization’s performance measures for quality, safety, and patient experience in all inpatient, outpatient, and post-acute settings
  • Meet AH Corporate Clinical Accountability targets for Quality and Safety
  • Monitor national quality/safety/experience measures (e.g. HCAHPS, PSI90, TJC Core measures)
  • Patient Experience performance improvement
  • Provide leadership to integration of evidence-based medicine into patient care
  • Interact with AIT leaders on the design and use of the electronic medical record (EMR), data analytics, physician clinical documentation
  • Assure the integration of physician and nursing care in the hospital setting into a consistent model of care delivery
  • Executive oversight of the implementation of quality and safety measures and goals in physician practices, outpatient centers, long-term acute care facilities and other post-acute care settings
  • Collaborate with all leadership on the development/deployment of effective care delivery systems in population health and risk payment environments
  • Partner in the implementation of company-wide initiatives as assigned to the Office of Clinical Effectiveness
  • Identify and organize participation in various health industry collaboratives on patient safety and quality improvement
  • Lead the division-wide effort to reduce unnecessary variations in care (Clinical Care Transformation) and produce consistent clinical outcomes
  • Work with executives and CMOs on streamlining and improving the structure of the medical staff including bylaws, credentials process and peer review
  • Develop and lead the growth and development of entity based CMOs
  • Collaborate with leadership in the strengthening of physician culture

  • Credibility as an experienced practicing physician
  • Understanding of physician and nursing practice in hospital, physician office, and outpatient settings
  • Effective in interpersonal communications and public speaking
  • Excellent skills in clinical data management and analytics
  • Ability to collaborate and engage physicians, nurses, finance leaders, and administrators in clinical improvement work
  • Ability to travel throughout the U.S.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Doctor of medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • 10 years of experience as a practicing physician
  • Senior leadership experience in large healthcare systems
  • Experience in training and developing physician leaders
  • M.D., D.O.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

In its simplest expression, AdventHealth is a mission-focused patient care company.The Multi-State Division (MSD) Chief Clinical Officer’s (CCO) primary role is to lead and integrate all efforts to provide patient care that is safe and effective with an exceptional experience.This applies to ever-expanding care settings including all acute hospitals, physician practices, outpatient facilities, and post-acute settings operated by AdventHealth MSD and its entities. The Chief Clinical Officer will provide leadership of clinical leaders to achieve sustainable high quality, safe and reliable care across the continuum. The position will have oversight for risk management and the subsequent trending and analysis of risk events. The Chief Clinical Officer will incubate clinical innovation by encouraging early adoption of new technologies and research by clinicians across the. coordinated care network. Personalized medicine and growing our residency will be a key area of focus. The Chief Clinical Officer will be responsible for the quality and safety plan deployment based on the foundations and goal established by AdventHealth Clinical. The Chief Clinical Officer will ensure a positive physician and clinician experience by fostering professionalism, a safe work environment, transparency and professional growth. The responsibilities include strategic planning, performance oversight, network development, financial oversight, and organizational forecasting.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
