Physician - Psychiatry - Child

Provide admission, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation services to children and adolescents with developmental, mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team offering a full spectrum of office-based behavioral health services including PCIT, TF-CBT, testing, and therapy. Participate in teaching opportunities affiliated with the University of North Dakota’s General Psychiatry Residency Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to children and adolescents who suffer from developmental, mental, behavioral, addictive, or emotional disorders.
  • Work closely with the Traumatic Stress Treatment Center offering therapy for children who have experienced psychological trauma.
  • Provide consultation to the inpatient pediatric unit as well as to primary care providers both directly and with the support of integrated health therapists located within the outpatient clinics.
  • Participate in teaching opportunities with a clinical faculty appointment to UND School of Medicine.
Required
  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Experience demonstrated by either a residency log for recent graduates, a quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the last 12 months including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications, or documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months showing active involvement in the care of at least 30 child or adolescent patients.
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Psychiatry residency program with two additional years of residency training in child and adolescent psychiatry accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or eligibility to achieve board certification within five years from residency completion.

Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D., is seeking a BC/BE Child Psychiatrist to join the region’s leading team of Child Behavioral Health specialists.

• Experienced team is comprised of 2 child Psychiatrists, 7 child Psychologists, 1 psychiatric nurse practitioner, RN support and a designated social worker
• Department offers a full spectrum of office based specialists providing PCIT, TF-CBT, testing, and short and long term therapy services
• Sanford Health has a nationally recoznized eating disorder program that includes clinic based services, a partial hospital and inpatient levels of care across all ages
• Partial Hospital Program for patients who are 12 to 17 years old and their families offering intensive DBT based treatment
• Work closely with the Traumatic Stress Treatment Center offering therapy for children who have experienced psychological trauma
• Sanford Health is a large rural health care system with a designated Children’s Hospital and a large network of outpatient pediatricians and family practice providers. Psychiatry offers consultation to the inpatient pediatric unit as well as to primary care providers both directly and with the support of integrated health therapists located within the outpatient clinics.
• Affiliated with the University of North Dakota’s General Psychiatry Residency Program, with 6 residents per year rotating through our child psychiatry department. Teaching opportunities available with a clinical faculty apointment to UND School of Medicine.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.

Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested: An applicant who has just completed a residency provides his/her resident log. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement of inpatient, outpatient or consultative services in child or adolescent psychiatry to at least 30 patients in the last 12 months. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinic activity for the last 12 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in the care of 30 child or adolescent patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months. More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.

Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Psychiatry residency program with two additional years of residency training in child and adolescent pychiartry accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada. Training at residency and programs accredited by organizations other than the above, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy. Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. (Refer to each entity’s policy for grandfather exceptions)
