NI-Physician, Surgery: Colon and Rectal

This role involves leading the development of a community-based colorectal surgery service line with collaboration from the UW Health colorectal team. The practice includes full-time outpatient, inpatient, surgery, and consultation services, participation in a general surgery call pool, and faculty teaching opportunities through UW Health – Madison.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full-time practice encompassing outpatient, inpatient, surgery, and consultations.
  • Supportive referral network of over 350 employed providers.
  • Partnering with a board-certified urogynecologist to establish a pelvic floor program.
  • Participation in the general surgery call pool, supported by UW Health’s regional colorectal surgery program.
  • Faculty appointment with teaching opportunities through UW Health – Madison.
  • Access to SwedishAmerican’s state-of-the-art facilities including 15 surgical suites on the Rockford campus and two in Belvidere.
  • Utilization of three DaVinci Xi robotic surgery systems.
  • Participation in a regional cancer center with access to University of Wisconsin clinical trials.
  • Tumor conference participation locally and with UW Madison.
Required
  • MD or DO
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
  • Active Illinois medical license
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible in Endocrinology. Board certification must be obtained within 5 years
Preferred
  • Bi-annual CPR certification

JOB DESCRIPTION

UW Health in Northern Illinois seeks a BE/BC colorectal surgeon to join our expanding team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of a high-quality, community-based colorectal surgery service line with strong collaboration and support from the UW Health colorectal team in Madison, WI.

Your practice includes the following:

  • Full-time practice encompassing outpatient, inpatient, surgery, and consultations.
  • Supportive referral network of over 350 employed providers
  • Partnering with a board-certified urogynecologist to establish a pelvic floor program.
  • Participation in the general surgery call pool, supported by UW Health’s regional colorectal surgery program. No requirement to do acute care or trauma surgery call.
  • Faculty appointment with teaching opportunities through UW Health – Madison.

Access to SwedishAmerican’s state-of-the-art facilities:

  • 15 surgical suites on the Rockford campus and two in Belvidere.
  • Three DaVinci Xi robotic surgery systems.
  • A regional cancer center with access to University of Wisconsin clinical trials.
  • Tumor conference participation locally and with UW Madison.

Education
