This role involves working within the Division of Cardiology at a quaternary level cardiovascular center, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including critical care intensivists, cardiologists, advanced practitioners, fellows, and residents. The physician will manage critical care patients such as pre and post heart transplant patients, those with mechanical circulatory support devices, and patients with myocardial infarction, post-cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, and shock.
Key Responsibilities
- • Work with a team of critical care intensivists, cardiologists, critical care advanced practitioners, cardiology fellows and residents
- • Provide multidisciplinary care of critical care patients, including pre and post heart transplant patients
- • Care for patients with temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices
- • Manage patients with myocardial infarction, post-cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, and shock
Required
- • Board Certification in Critical Care is required
- • New Jersey licensed or eligible for New Jersey licensure
Preferred
- • Additional board certification in Cardiology
- • Prior expertise treating advanced heart failure or heart transplant patients
- • Experience in a CCU setting

RWJBarnabas Health, the largest integrated health care delivery system in New Jersey, is seeking BC/BE Cardiac ICU Physicians at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC). Our Medical Center is one of the nation’s largest heart transplant centers with the leading Advanced Heart Failure, Shock, and Mechanical Circulatory Support Programs in NJ, and a known destination for Structural, Complex Coronary, and Endovascular interventions. This is a great opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team in a quaternary level cardiovascular center.
This position will be embedded within the Division of Cardiology. The ideal candidate will work with a team of critical care intensivists, cardiologists, critical care advanced practitioners, cardiology fellows and residents. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the multidisciplinary care of critical care patients, including pre and post heart transplant patients, those with temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices, and those with other conditions such as myocardial infarction, post-cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, and shock.

More About This Position
- Board Certification in Critical Care is required
- Additional board certification in Cardiology, prior expertise treating advanced heart failure or heart transplant patients, or experience in a CCU setting is preferred/encouraged (not required)
- New Jersey licensed or eligible for New Jersey licensure
The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $400,000 to $600,000 per year.
The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience.
