Asst/Assoc/Professor - Family Medicine - Amarillo

The role involves providing comprehensive and integrated care to patients of all ages and backgrounds, focusing on wellness, prevention, and individualized treatment plans. The position includes patient assessment, ordering tests, coordinating care with subspecialists, and participating in education and quality improvement programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assesses patients by obtaining and reviewing health histories, assessing presenting illness and performing an appropriate physical examination
  • Orders laboratory, diagnostic and screening tests
  • Develops and implements treatment plans including medications
  • Educates patients on wellness, illness prevention and disease management
  • Instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatments
  • Coordinates care with subspecialists
  • Prepares and completes timely and accurate documentation for medical records
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members
  • Participates in quality improvement, continuing education and patient care programs established by the department, clinic and/or hospital
  • Participates in the training and education of residents and medical students
Required
  • MD, DO or MBBS
  • Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ACGME Family Medicine Residency
  • Board certified, board eligible, or in the process of completing training to become board eligible in Family Medicine
  • Ability to obtain a TX Medical License

Position Description

The Department of Family Medicine provides high quality health care and educational experiences. Working as a team of healthcare providers and educators, we advance a unique model of patient care characterized by:

  • Comprehensive and integrated care of the whole person over time, tailored to the individual’s values and choices;
  • Care of all ages, socio-economic statuses, ethnicities, health statuses, and genders;
  • Wellness and prevention;
  • Relationships and collaborations based on active and open communication and trust; and
  • Wise and practical application of knowledge.
