ECU Health
Supports hospital president and chief of staff in driving quality, safety, and culture transformation. Works with medical staff leaders to support credentialing, peer review, bylaws, and medical executive committee functions. Develops policies and metrics to measure treatment efficacy and drives performance on key acute care indicators.
Key Responsibilities
- • Support medical staff functions and physician leaders at VMC including chief of staff, chiefs of service and all medical staff and APPs serving patients.
- • Support credentialing, peer review, bylaws and medical executive committee functions.
- • Develops/updates policies, standards, and metrics to track and measure the appropriateness and efficacy of treatments and/or diagnostic procedures provided by clinicians and staff.
- • Drive performance on key performance indicators (KPI) related to acute care such as healthcare associated infections, mortality, inpatient quality reporting (IQR) measures, HCAHPS and safety event reporting.
- • Serve as a physician administrative liaison to the formal medical staff organization.
- • Maintain positive relations with physicians and affiliates.
- • Facilitate positive relationships and communications to ensure input on key issues between clinical departments and all providers.
- • Demonstrate a presence by being visible and accessible to colleagues and staff.
- • Set and model expectations for professional behavior and hold physicians and non-physician providers accountable accordingly.
- • Assist the Medical Staff Officers and Clinical Department Chiefs in staff disciplinary actions and suspension.
- • Assist in preparation for meetings of the Medical Executive and Credentials Committees.
- • Coordinate monitoring and compliance with policies, procedures, bylaws and rules and regulations.
- • Ensure that department chairs carry out their respective administrative responsibilities.
- • Advise President on hospital based and other physician and nonphysician provider contracting in coordination with VH Provider Contracting.
- • Advise the President and/or appropriate Board committees on appointment of medical department heads.
- • Attend meetings of medical departments, as appropriate, to represent leadership and facilitate effective communication among physicians and non-physician providers.
- • Establish processes to support continuous learning and improvement based on quantitative and qualitative information regarding patient outcomes and experiences.
- • Assist in the development and effective administration of pro-active risk management and patient safety.
Required
- • MD / DO is required.
- • 8 - 10 years experience is required.
- • Administrative experience in a complex healthcare environment is required.
- • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- • Ability to foster collaboration across disciplines, clinical services, partner organizations and community leaders.

Minimum Requirements
