Per-Diem Ophthalmologist
Provide comprehensive ophthalmologic evaluations and treatments for patients in skilled nursing and long-term acute care settings. Manage ocular diseases and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, patient-centered care while offering consultative services for complex medical and visual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- • Deliver comprehensive ophthalmologic evaluations and treatments for residents and patients in skilled nursing and long-term acute care settings.
- • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, macular degeneration, and ocular surface disease.
- • Collaborate with interdisciplinary medical, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to ensure holistic, patient-centered care.
- • Provide consultative ophthalmology services for patients with complex medical and visual needs.
Required
- • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology (within 5 years post-residency).
- • New York State medical license required.
- • Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered care.
Preferred
- • Experience in geriatrics, complex medical populations, or hospital-based ophthalmology strongly preferred.

Carter is known for its pulmonary excellence, ventilator-weaning expertise, and comprehensive long-term care.
