Hospital Medicine Physician

This role involves providing hospital medicine care with an average census of 10-12 patients per physician, including pediatric coverage primarily for newborns. Physicians will manage complex cases in an open ICU setting with telemedicine critical care support, perform procedures, run codes, and collaborate closely with a diverse local team and specialists via phone consultations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Experience an average census of 10-12 per physician, with 1-3 admissions per day and 2-6 admissions per night.
  • Provide pediatric coverage with 1-2 patients per day – primarily newborns, may require resuscitation for critical newborns until transfer, assist ER in facilitating transfers of critical patients.
  • Manage complex cases in an open ICU with telemedicine critical care 24/7.
  • Perform most procedures and run codes.
  • Use Cerner EMR and access Sound Physicians internal informatics platform.
  • Conduct phone consultations with specialists at a larger regional hospital.
  • Maintain strong connections through team meetings held monthly or bi-monthly.
Required
  • A Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certified/eligible in internal, family medicine, or med/peds.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred
  • Med/peds or family medicine will also have the opportunity to provide coverage for pediatric patients.

Local Team Collaboration

  • Join our close-knit team of 6 physicians and 3 APPs, with the support of a clinical performance nurse at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital.
  • Our dedicated team consists of two hospitalists during the day and one at night (one APP during the day).
  • We are a diverse team from different ethnic backgrounds and training programs, including internal medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics, and family medicine.
  • At St. Elizabeth, we’re more than just a healthcare team; we’re a community. We actively participate in various hospital committees.

Qualifications

  • A Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certified/eligible in internal, family medicine, or med/peds.
  • Med/peds or family medicine will also have the opportunity to provide coverage for pediatric patients.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling

  • We offer an array of flexible scheduling options, including a balanced 7-days-on, 7-days-off block schedule allowing for quality time at work and home.

Compensation

  • Expected yearly salary is $320,000-$330,000 depending on experience, with an opportunity for competitive bonus/loan forgiveness options.
