Physician, Primary Care - No OB - McDonough GA

Primary care physicians are expected to treat a wide range of medical conditions, develop long-term personal relationships with patients, and produce individualized healthcare programs based on patient historical data. The role involves educating patients in health management and disease prevention, supporting evidence-based practice guidelines, supervising physician assistants/nurse practitioners, and collaborating with healthcare team members to promote continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Treat a wide range of medical conditions
  • Develop long-term, personal relationships with patients
  • Produce individualized healthcare programs based on patient historical data
  • Offer continuous support and health management advice
  • No Obstetrics
  • Clinic Hours are Monday – Friday 7:30-5
  • After hours call service
  • See 18 – 22 patients per day (pending complexity)
  • Utilize laboratory services on-site
  • Use state-of-the-art technology with integrated EMR and electronic prescribing
  • No admitting; No nights
  • Remain in compliance with all rules and regulations set by Georgia Composite Board based on the Georgia Medical Practice Act
  • Educate patients in health management and disease prevention
  • Support the development and implementation of evidence-based practice guidelines
  • Provide appropriate patient education
  • Assume responsibility for day-to-day supervision of physician assistants/nurse practitioners
  • Participate in medical staff peer review process, performance improvement, continuing education, risk management and Clinical Indicator selection
  • Assist clinical personnel in their evaluation of phone calls and determining appropriate disposition when appropriate
  • Utilize EMR Allscripts/Veradigm to document in the Health Record
  • Promote continuity of patient care by interacting and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team
Required
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) required; current State of Georgia License in good standing
  • Board certification in Family Practice or Internal Medicine required
  • Current Georgia Medical License required
  • Valid DEA required
  • Completion of a family practice/internal medicine residency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Caring, attentive nature
  • Possess a working understanding and support of a managed care environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and maintain relationships with various health plans
Preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred
