The Chief of Endocrinology will provide clinical leadership across inpatient and outpatient services, advancing strategic growth, quality initiatives, and provider engagement within the Diabetes and Endocrinology program. This role combines autonomy in a close-knit practice model with the resources of a statewide health system.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide on-site supervision of endocrinology providers and diabetes educators, including annual evaluations and privileging
- • Partner with the Administrative Director on day-to-day operations and performance management
- • Lead strategic planning, program development, and service line growth, including physician recruitment
- • Oversee quality, safety, and risk management initiatives for inpatient and ambulatory endocrine services
- • Implement and align inpatient and outpatient protocols with system-wide HHC Endocrinology Service Line standards
- • Participate in endocrine councils, quality committees, and regional leadership forums
Required
- • Fellowship-trained Endocrinologist
- • Board eligible or board certified
- • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut
Preferred
- • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience preferred
- • Prior leadership experience strongly desired

Position Overview
The Chief of Endocrinology will provide clinical leadership across inpatient and outpatient services at Backus Hospital and Hartford HealthCare Medical Group (HCMG), while advancing strategic growth, quality initiatives, and provider engagement across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site supervision of endocrinology providers and diabetes educators, including annual evaluations and privileging
- Partner with the Administrative Director on day-to-day operations and performance management
- Lead strategic planning, program development, and service line growth, including physician recruitment
- Oversee quality, safety, and risk management initiatives for inpatient and ambulatory endocrine services
- Implement and align inpatient and outpatient protocols with system-wide HHC Endocrinology Service Line standards
- Participate in endocrine councils, quality committees, and regional leadership forums
Clinical Environment
- Manage a broad spectrum of general endocrinology disorders, including complex diabetes care
- Team-based, patient-centered approach focused on diabetes prevention, metabolic health, and chronic disease management
