Physician

This role involves providing comprehensive primary care across multiple settings including Emergency Room, Inpatient Hospital, Long Term Care, and Rural Health Clinic. The physician will diagnose, treat, and provide preventive care to patients of all ages, collaborating with healthcare teams and participating in community health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Conduct routine physical exams, preventive screenings, and health assessments tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Manage chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD, and mental health conditions with an emphasis on continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
  • Educate patients and families about health maintenance, disease prevention, treatment plans, and medication management.
  • Respond to urgent medical issues and provide basic emergency care as needed, with limited access to immediate specialty care.
  • Participate in community health initiatives and outreach programs to improve population health outcomes in the region.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to medical support staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and support initiatives to enhance service delivery.
Required
  • Proficiently be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • In-depth understanding of current principles, practices, and procedures in the field of medicine
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to healthcare (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, OSHA)
  • Awareness of cultural, ethical, and socioeconomic factors influencing patient care
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Clinical and emergent decision-making and critical thinking abilities in high-pressure or uncertain situations
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions
  • Ability to provide service orientation - actively looking for ways to help people
  • Skilled in using electronic health records (EHR) and clinical software systems
  • Time management and organizational skills to balance clinical workload and documentation
  • Commitment to rural health and community-based care
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school leading to MN Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
  • Comfortable working in ER and inpatient settings; rural or critical access experience preferred
  • Must pass MN background check and fingerprinting if licensed before 1/1/2018
  • Complete TB testing within the first 3 weeks of employment

Since 1922, Kittson Healthcare has proudly provided continuous service to the citizens of Kittson County and surrounding areas. Today, we are a 12-bed acute care federally designated Critical Access Hospital and a 50-bed long-term care facility, which also includes a home healthcare agency, an 8-bed assisted living facility, and ambulance services. Our campus includes a medical clinic in Hallock and a satellite clinic in Karlstad, MN. Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and versatile physician to join our medical team at a Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic in beautiful rural Minnesota. This unique role offers variety and purpose, as you serve across our Emergency Room, Inpatient Hospital, Long Term Care, and Rural Health Clinic settings – where you will diagnose, treat, and provide preventive care to individuals and families across the lifespan. May refer patients to specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment.
