Neurologist - Movement Disorders (M67692)

This role involves providing patient care with a focus on movement disorders and deep brain stimulation in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The faculty member will also engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, organize educational conferences, participate in clinical and translational research, and contribute to departmental and professional service activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings with an emphasis on movement disorders and deep brain stimulation.
  • Teaching Faculty member will teach medical students and housestaff. They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in movement disorders and deep brain stimulation.
  • They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested.
  • Research The Division of General Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials.
  • Service Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
Required
  • BC/BE in Neurology
  • Completed an accredited Movement Disorders Fellowship
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time member to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises in the Division of Movement Disorders. This position will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.
