Interventional Radiologist

The Interventional Radiologist will provide coverage for various interventional radiology procedures and related patient care activities on an as-needed basis. The role involves performing a wide range of procedures, patient consultations, treatment planning, and participating in quality improvement and administrative meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide interventional radiologist procedures including angiography, cryoablation, balloon angioplasty/stent placement, line insertion chemoembolization, IVC filters, cholecystostomy, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, drain insertions, nephrostomy placement, embolization, radiologically inserted gastrostomy, thrombolysis, dialysis access & related interventions, biopsy, TIPS placement, radiofrequency ablation, biliary intervention, endovenous laser ablation of varicose veins
  • Patient Consultation
  • Treatment Planning and Management
  • Treatment Discharge
  • Follow-Up Evaluations
  • Participate in Peer Review Conferences and Administrative Meetings as required
  • Enter notes and maintain patient records in a paperless medical record system
  • Participate in peer review and quality improvement activities to maintain high standards of care
  • Engage in committee memberships as required
  • Understand and abide by the Medical Bylaws of the facility and perform other duties as assigned
Required
  • Must hold a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) or an equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Must be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency
  • Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Must be Board Certified by the American College of Radiology (ACR) with secondary board Certification in Interventional Radiology
  • Must have a clear and active DEA
  • Strong clinical skills with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for educating and counseling patients and their families
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records and maintaining accurate patient documentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Dedication to continuous improvement and participation in quality improvement activities

Job Summary

Aptive Resources is seeking a dedicated and skilled Interventional Radiologist to provide as need coverage for the following details below. You do not need to cover all aspects of the details below as we'd take just partial coverage for this need as we're recruiting for a pool of available physicians for sporadic coverage. Primary Location: Atlanta VAMC, 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA, 30033Schedule:
  • Clinic Hours are 7:30am – 4:30pm EST.
  • Monday – Friday, day tour, as needed.
  • After hours on-call 4:30pm-8pm
  • 24 hours -weekends Saturday and Sunday.

Primary Responsibilities

 The physician will provide the following interventional radiologist procedures, including, but not limited to:

 

  • Angiography
  • Cryoablation
  • Balloon angioplasty/stent placement
  • Line insertion Chemoembolization
  • IVC filters
  • Cholecystostomy
  • Vertebroplasty / Kyphoplasty
  • Drain insertions
  • Nephrostomy placement
  • Embolization
  • Radiologically inserted gastrostomy
  • Thrombolysis
  • Dialysis access & related interventions
  • Biopsy
  • TIPS placement
  • Radiofrequency ablation
  • Biliary intervention
  • Endovenous laser ablation of varicose veins

  • Electronic Medical Records: Enter notes and maintain patient records in a paperless medical record system. 
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in peer review and quality improvement activities to maintain high standards of care. 
  • Committee Membership: Engage in committee memberships as required, contributing to the governance and improvement of medical practices at the facility. 
  • Compliance: Understand and abide by the Medical Bylaws of the facility and perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Must hold a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. 
  • Must be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency. 
  • Licensure: Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
