Orthopedic Surgeon

Provide comprehensive orthopedic care including inpatient and outpatient services, surgical interventions, and emergency orthopedic care in a rural community setting. Participate in hospital leadership, program development, and support a multidisciplinary team while engaging in community outreach and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide both inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care, including consultations, procedures, and surgical interventions
  • Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions (fractures, degenerative joint disease, sports injuries, trauma)
  • Perform general orthopedic surgeries such as joint replacement, fracture fixation, and ligament/tendon repairs
  • Provide emergency orthopedic care in collaboration with emergency and trauma teams
  • Deliver post-operative care, rehabilitation guidance, and follow-up management
  • Provide on-call coverage to the Emergency Department
  • Deliver high-quality general orthopedic care
  • Demonstrate adaptability and independence in managing diverse and urgent cases
  • Participate in hospital leadership and development of orthopedic service lines
  • Support and mentor advanced practice providers (PAs/NPs) and clinical staff
  • Engage in continuous program development to expand access and services in the region
  • Willingness to participate in outreach clinics
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals
  • Foster strong relationships with patients, families, and referring providers
  • Participate in community health outreach and education initiatives to promote orthopedic wellness
  • Participate in community events as an orthopedic ambassador
Required
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited orthopedic surgery residency program Board-eligible or Board-certified in orthopedic surgery (ABOS or equivalent)
  • Active, unrestricted license (or eligibility for licensure) to practice medicine in the State of Utah

Position Summary
Moab Regional Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join our dedicated surgical team. This is a full-time, employed position offering a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive orthopedic care in a rural community setting. The ideal candidate is a skilled, adaptable surgeon who values collaboration, autonomy, and the opportunity to help build and shape a growing orthopedic program.

Credentials and Licensure
