Faculty Professor - Full-Time

The role involves providing outpatient care, engaging in clinical and/or bench research, and teaching and supervising residents and medical students. The position serves patients at the UPMC Kaufmann Medical Building and other locations as determined by the Chairman.

Required
  • Successful graduation from a neurology residency training program
  • Completed a fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis
  • Demonstrated excellence in training activities
  • Qualified for medical licensure in Pennsylvania
  • Meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh
  • Medical degree – MD, DO, or foreign equivalent
  • Board Certified or board eligible in Neurology fellowship training or its foreign equivalent
  • Assistant Professor applicants: three or more years of experience in related scientific research
  • Ability to obtain external research funding
  • Disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums
  • Significant teaching experience
  • Capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure
  • Associate Professor applicants: five or more years of experience in related scientific research
  • Independent, external research funding and a substantial record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Capacity for sustained, impactful, and independent scholarly contributions and leadership
  • Professor applicants: served five to seven years as Associate Professor
  • Attainment of authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field of learning
  • Achievement of effective teaching skills
  • Superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations

 

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Neurology, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center are seeking a Multiple Sclerosis Neurologist at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor, tenured, in the tenure stream and outside the tenure stream. 

 

General rank requirements:

Applicants for Assistant Professor, non-tenure or tenure-stream, should have three or more years of experience in related scientific research; have obtained or demonstrate the ability to obtain external research funding; have disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure.

Applicants for Associate Professor, non-tenure, tenure-stream, and tenured, should have five or more years of experience in related scientific research; have independent, external research funding and a substantial record of peer-reviewed publications; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained, impactful, and independent scholarly contributions and leadership.

Applicants for Professor, non-tenure, tenure-stream, and tenured, will have served five to seven years as Associate Professor. The rank of Professor recognizes the attainment of authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field of learning, as well as the achievement of effective teaching skills. The Professor should have attained superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations.

The qualified Candidate must successful graduated from a neurology residency training program, completed a fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis and demonstrated excellence in training activities. Responsibilities include outpatient care, an interest in clinical and/or bench research, and teaching and supervision of residents and medical students. The position will serve patients at the UPMC Kaufmann Medical Building and other locations as determined by the Chairman.

Candidates must be qualified for medical licensure in Pennsylvania and meet the requirements necessary for a faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh. Candidates should have a medical degree – MD, DO, or foreign equivalent, and be Board Certified or board eligible in Neurology fellowship training or its foreign equivalent.
