Pediatric Palliative Care - Physician - Blank Children's Hospital

Provide palliative care for children with chronic, complex, and/or life-threatening conditions and their families across various settings including clinic, hospital, long-term care, or home. Participate in comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluations, symptom management, discharge planning, and collaborate with primary care teams while serving as a clinical and educational role model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide palliative care for children facing chronic, complex and/or life-threatening conditions and their families in the clinic, hospital, long-term care facility, or home.
  • Provide palliative care for mothers whose babe has been diagnosed with chronic, complex and/or life-threatening condition in utero and their families in the hospital or clinic.
  • Participate in comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluation of patients and families, skilled and meticulous symptom management, and discharge planning and continuity of care.
  • Serve as clinical and educational role model and mentor.
  • Provide care and support in collaboration with the primary care team.
  • Ensure compliance with practice standards and codes.
Required
  • MD or DO
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician’s field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)

Blank Children's Hospital, a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, is completely dedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children. Blank Children's is a 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their child's healing and recovery.
