Per-Diem Attending Hematology/Oncology

Provide Hematology/Oncology consultations for inpatient and long-term care patients, supporting cancer care planning, symptom management, and coordination of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage hematologic conditions and contribute to quality and safety initiatives related to oncology and hematology care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Hematology/Oncology consultations for both inpatient and long-term care patients.
  • Support cancer care planning, symptom management, and coordination of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Collaborate with primary medical teams, palliative care, nursing, pharmacy, and rehabilitation services.
  • Offer expertise in managing hematologic conditions such as anemia, thrombocytopenia, leukocytosis, and coagulopathies.
  • Assist in evaluating abnormal labs, lymphadenopathy, or unexplained weight loss.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds and family care conferences as needed.
  • Contribute to quality and safety initiatives related to oncology and hematology care.
  • Practice and communicate in accordance with ICARE values.
  • Document all evaluations and recommendations promptly in the EMR.
  • Engage with patients and families using compassionate, patient-centered communication.
  • Work in collaboration with the broader healthcare team to provide coordinated, holistic care.
Required
  • Active NYS Medical License
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to serving diverse and underserved populations
Preferred
  • Prior experience in long-term or post-acute care settings is a plus

Position Overview: Per Diem Hematology/Oncology Physician

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Hematology/Oncology Physician to join our team on a per diem basis. This is an exciting opportunity to support a diverse and medically complex patient population in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
