The Emergency/Urgent Care Physician provides patient care at South Shore Hospital and ambulatory Urgent Care locations, focusing on assessment, evaluation, and therapeutic interventions. The role involves collaboration with the Emergency Care Team, patient and family communication, participation in medical staff committees, education of staff, and involvement in quality improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities
- • Interacts with members of the Emergency Care Team in a collegial fashion.
- • Involves the patient and, when appropriate, the patient’s family members to explain diagnoses, plan of care, possible outcomes and any other information that should be shared with the patient and family.
- • Fosters family care, welcoming a family member to remain with the patient.
- • Assures that every patient she/he has cared for at SSH has an appropriate discharge plan that is understood by the patient and/or family members.
- • Maintains confidentiality of all SSH and patient information as appropriate.
- • Interacts with other SSH&EC departments in a collegial way to facilitate patient care and interventions, and patient flow.
- • Is a member of the SSH&EC Medical Staff and participates in SSH&EC Medical Staff committees and task forces.
- • Interacts, via phone or in person, with SSH Consulting Medical Staff in a collegial and timely manner.
- • Is an active member of SSH and Emergency Services committees and task forces.
- • Plays an active role in the education and continuing education of the SSH Emergency Services staff, including the paramedics.
- • Participates in SSH Emergency Services quality improvement programs and outcomes projects.
- • Implements all approved Emergency Department Patient Outcome Plans, when appropriate.
- • Complies with point-of-care testing requirements.

- • Graduate of an accredited Emergency Residency Medicine Program.
- • MD - Physicians/Hospitalist
- • Demonstrated history of proficiency in the delivery of emergency medical care to patients of all ages
- • Demonstrated history as a strong member of an Emergency Care Team
- • Successful completion of SSH Credentialing Process
- • Complete FMSCA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) certification within 6 months of hire
- • Physician/Hospitalist - Board of Registration in Medicine (Massachusetts)

The Emergency/Urgent Care Physician will provide patient care at both South Shore Hospital and at South Shore Health ambulatory Urgent Care locations. The Physician’s primary responsibility is for the assessment, evaluation and therapeutic interventions on those patients.
Compensation Pay Range
$310,000.00 - $327,000.00
Essential Functions

Minimum Education - Preferred
Medical School Graduate.
Graduate of an accredited Emergency Residency Medicine Program.
