Key Responsibilities
- • Conduct scientific research in areas including cancer, dementia, depression, falls, frailty, heart disease, incontinence, infections, mobility, osteoporosis, pain, pharmacotherapy, resilience, sarcopenia, and the biology of aging
- • Obtain and maintain external research funding
- • Disseminate research results through peer-reviewed publications and scientific forums
- • Engage in significant teaching activities
- • Demonstrate capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure
- • Provide leadership and make independent scholarly contributions (for associate and professor levels)
- • Achieve effective teaching skills and professional leadership (for professor level)
Required
- • Ph.D. and/or M.D.
- • Evidence of extramural funding and research interest in specified aging-related areas
- • For Assistant Professor: three or more years of experience in related scientific research
- • Ability to obtain external research funding (Assistant Professor level)
- • Disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums (Assistant Professor level)
- • Significant teaching experience (Assistant Professor level)
- • For Associate Professor: five or more years of experience in related scientific research
- • Independent, external research funding (Associate Professor level)
- • Substantial record of peer-reviewed publications (Associate Professor level)
- • Significant teaching experience (Associate Professor level)
- • For Professor: five to seven years served as Associate Professor
- • Attainment of authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field
- • Achievement of effective teaching skills
- • Superior stature in field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership

Applicants for Assistant Professor, non-tenure or tenure-stream, should have three or more years of experience in related scientific research; have obtained or demonstrate the ability to obtain external research funding; have disseminated results through peer-reviewed publications and other scientific forums; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained career development, promotion, and tenure.
Applicants for Associate Professor, non-tenure, tenure-stream, tenured, should have five or more years of experience in related scientific research; have independent, external research funding and a substantial record of peer-reviewed publications; have significant teaching experience; and demonstrate the capacity for sustained, impactful, and independent scholarly contributions and leadership.
Applicants for Professor, non-tenure, tenure-stream, tenured, will have served five to seven years as Associate Professor. The rank of professor recognizes the attainment of authoritative knowledge and reputation in a recognized field of learning and the achievement of effective teaching skills. The professor should have attained superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations.
