OB/GYN Laborist (Obstetrics & Gynecology)

As an OB Laborist, you will provide consistent care to patients in the inpatient hospital setting on weekends and weekday nights, as well as emergent care to patients arriving in Labor and Delivery. Responsibilities include evaluating and delivering obstetrical patients, assisting with C-sections and other surgeries, and conducting rounds on hospitalized, antepartum, and post-operative patients. Opportunities for in-office Ob/Gyn patient care and participation in clinical education, care protocol development, and research projects are also part of the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent care to patients in the inpatient hospital setting on weekends and weekday nights
  • Provide emergent care to patients arriving in Labor and Delivery
  • Evaluate and deliver obstetrical patients
  • Assist with C-sections and other surgeries
  • Conduct rounds on hospitalized, antepartum, and post-operative patients
  • Participate in clinical education for other medical staff
  • Establish care protocols for labor and delivery programs
  • Work on research projects as needed
Required
  • Must have an active and unrestricted California State Medical License
  • Board-eligible or American Board Certified in OB/GYN
  • Must be interested in participating in clinical education for other medical staff, establishing care protocols for labor and delivery programs and working on research projects as needed
  • A passion for providing excellent clinical care and excellent communication skills
  • Interest in working in a collaborative/team-oriented environment
  • Proficient in EMR Systems (EPIC)
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital/surgical privileges at Hoag Hospital
Preferred
  • Fellowship in OB/GYN is a plus
  • Experience as an OB Laborist/OB Hospitalist is preferred

As an OB Laborist, you will be part of our growing team in the Division of Obstetrics & Gynecology and be responsible for providing consistent care to patients in the inpatient hospital setting on weekends and weekday nights, as well as emergent care to patients arriving in Labor and Delivery. In addition, there are opportunities for in-office Ob/Gyn patient care as part of the team. You will evaluate and deliver obstetrical patients, assist with C-sections and other surgeries; while conducting rounds on hospitalized, antepartum, and post-operative patients that are part of the Division of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Position Details:

  • Full-time or Part-time in Newport Beach, CA
  • Schedule: Flexible to shifts in a combination of 12-hour weekday night shifts and 24-hour weekend shifts, balanced with office hours for an Ob/Gyn practice.
  • Must have an active and unrestricted California State Medical License.
  • Board-eligible, American Board Certified in OB/GYN, Fellowship in OB/GYN is a plus.
  • Experience as an OB Laborist/OB Hospitalist is preferred.
  • Must be interested in participating in clinical education for other medical staff, establishing care protocols for labor and delivery programs and working on research projects as needed.
  • A passion for providing excellent clinical care and excellent communication skills and interest in working in a collaborative/ team-oriented environment are a must.
  • Proficient in EMR Systems (EPIC).
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital/surgical privileges at Hoag Hospital.

$328,608 - $352,080: The salary range listed is for a full-time position and does not include additional incentive compensation or benefits that you may be eligible for. The total compensation will be reviewed and adjusted based on fair market value, experience, training, or any additional hospital needs.
