The Staff Psychiatrist provides telepsychiatry services including diagnosing conditions and prescribing medications within their medical staff privileges and professional license. The role involves participating in monthly Psychotropic Drug Review meetings and performing written or telephone psychiatric consultations and second opinions for clients at the request of residence physicians and psychologists.
Key Responsibilities

- • Perform written/telephone psychiatric consultations including second opinions for Canyon Springs clients at the request of residence physicians and psychologists
Required
- • Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the Board of Osteopathic Examiners
- • One year of experience in the practice of psychiatry or completion of one year of an approved residency in psychiatry
- • Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired
- • Medical Clearance prior to being hired

Effective October 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three (3) percent in exchange for five (5) hours per month of the Personal Leave.
