MaineHealth Cancer Care is seeking a Hematologist to join the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at its Rockport location. The MaineHealth Cancer Care Rockport practice and Penobscot Bay Medical Center are located in Rockport, Maine, known as the “Gateway to Penobscot Bay.” In addition to its stunning scenery, Rockport has a vibrant arts and dining scene that attracts visitors from throughout New England and beyond. Rockport is a family-friendly location that features easy access to outdoor activities and outstanding schools, including the University of Maine Rockland Center; Bowdoin and Colby College are within easy driving distance.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in an established hematology and medical oncology practice affiliated with the MaineHealth Penobscot Bay Medical Center, an integral part of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network. Hematologists within the practice evaluate and treat patients with a range of both malignant and benign hematologic conditions, supported by subspecialists throughout the MaineHealth system. Participation in subspecialty, system-wide multidisciplinary tumor boards is encouraged, and support for the development of subspecialty clinics is available for those with subspecialty interest.
MaineHealth is a nationally recognized integrated care system that delivers highly coordinated, state-of-the-art, cancer and hematology care across a network that cares for 7,600 new cancer patients each year. The cancer and hematology programs have grown significantly over the past three years and exceed 80% market share across the state of Maine. The programs are academically affiliated with the Tufts University School of Medicine and include a fellowship training program as well as robust clinical and translational research efforts, with membership in both NCORP and the NCI cooperative groups. Prior experience in oncology within an academic health system or academically-oriented private practice is preferred, although strong candidates in the early stages of their careers will be considered.
