The Hematologist will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues in an established hematology/oncology practice, evaluating and treating patients with a range of benign and malignant hematologic conditions. The role includes participation in system-wide multidisciplinary subspecialty tumor boards and offers a subspecialty clinic opportunity at the primary MaineHealth Cancer Center campus for those with subspecialty interest.
Key Responsibilities
- • Evaluate and treat patients with a range of benign and malignant hematologic conditions
- • Work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues in an established hematology/oncology practice
- • Participate in system-wide multidisciplinary subspecialty tumor boards
- • Provide subspecialty clinic care at the primary MaineHealth Cancer Center campus in Scarborough/Portland (1 day/week) for candidates with subspecialty interest

MaineHealth Cancer Care is seeking a Hematologist to join the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at its Brunswick location. The MaineHealth Brunswick Practice is located in Brunswick Maine, a family-friendly town that is the home of Bowdoin College and is ideally situated on the scenic coastline of Casco Bay. Brunswick has outstanding schools, a thriving arts and dining scene, and is within easy driving distance of Portland, Maine.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues in an established hematology/oncology practice affiliated with MidCoast Hospital, an integral part of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network. Hematologists within the practice evaluate and treat patients with a range of benign and malignant hematologic conditions and are supported by subspecialists throughout the MaineHealth system. Participation in system-wide multidisciplinary subspecialty tumor boards is encouraged, and a 1 day/week subspecialty clinic at the primary MaineHealth Cancer Center campus in Scarborough/Portland is available for candidates with subspecialty interest.
MaineHealth is a nationally recognized integrated care system that delivers highly coordinated, state-of-the-art, cancer and hematology care across a network that cares for 7,600 new cancer patients each year. The cancer and hematology programs have grown significantly over the past three years and exceed 80% market share across the state of Maine. The programs are academically affiliated with the Tufts University School of Medicine and include a fellowship training program as well as robust clinical and translational research efforts, with membership in both NCORP and the NCI cooperative groups. Prior experience in oncology within an academic health system or academically oriented private practice is preferred, although strong candidates in the early stages of their careers will be considered.
