Physicians on the consult liaison Psychiatry team provide consultative services across Raleigh and Cary hospital campuses, managing psychiatric inpatients and med/surg inpatients with psychiatric substance abuse co-morbidity using pharmacological and short-term psychotherapeutic methods. The Medical Director leads local strategy, operational performance, and development of the group/division, collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve goals in quality, patient experience, clinical and financial outcomes, and new services while also providing clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide consultative services to patients across the Raleigh and Cary hospital campuses.
- • Manage psychiatric inpatients and med/surg inpatients with psychiatric substance abuse co-morbidity using pharmacological and short-term psychotherapeutic management.
- • Lead local strategy, operational performance, and appropriate development of their group/division.
- • Partner with and be supported by the Executive Medical Director, Service Line Director and/or respective Practice Manager.
- • Develop and execute operational tactics to achieve aspirational goals including quality, patient experience, clinical outcomes, financial outcomes, new services, regional development, referral development, clinical operations, and medical staff interactions.
- • Work closely with other physician leaders, physicians, APPs, nursing, administration (WPP and system), recruiting, clinical and financial staff, and marketing.
- • Serve in a clinical capacity providing quality care to patients within their assigned division and the WakeMed system.
- • Utilize a collaborative leadership style to develop their division into one recognized as a leader aligned with WakeMed Mission, Vision and Values.

- • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by an American Medical Specialty Board.
- • Licensed Medical Physician And Board Certification in Area of Practice Required.
- • Doctorate Medicine Required.
- • Fellowship/Internship/Residency - Related Area Required.

We are currently seeking physicians with an interest in joining our consult liaison Psychiatry team. Our physicians provide consultative services to our patients across the Raleigh and Cary hospital campuses. We are looking for physicians who are skilled in both pharmacological and short-term psychotherapeutic management of psychiatric inpatients and med/surg inpatients with psychiatric substance abuse co-morbidity. We offer a convenient twelve-hour shift-based model of coverage which provides flexibility with work life balance.
The Medical Director is responsible for local strategy, operational performance and appropriate development of their group/division. In this work they partner with and are supported by the Executive Medical Director, Service Line Director and/or respective Practice Manager. The Medical Director is responsible for leading their group in the development and execution of operational tactics to achieve the aspirational goals for the group; including but not limited to - quality, patient experience, clinical outcomes, financial outcomes, new services, regional development, referral development, clinical operations and medical staff interactions with the group.
