Hospitalist

Responsible for providing patients with care at the current level of quality and efficiency recognized by appropriate practice standards and guidelines applicable to hospital facilities in the physician’s specialty. Prepares and completes all medical and other required patient records in a timely fashion. Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting initial patient assessments and admissions
  • Formulating and implementing treatment plans
  • Scheduling and reviewing clinical and diagnostic tests
  • Providing updates to primary care physicians and family members
  • Conducting multiple rounds daily as necessary for the acuity of patients’ conditions
  • Coordinating and integrating specialty and subspecialty consultations
  • Coordinating patient transfers to and from the ICU, medical/surgical unit, and/or skilled nursing facilities
  • Coordinating discharge planning
  • Performing administrative duties related to position
  • Working 15-16 shifts per month
Required
  • Graduate of an approved medical (allopathic or osteopathic), dental or podiatric school
  • MD/DO with a valid unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Rhode Island
  • Board certified or Board eligible as required
  • Federal Narcotics DEA license required as applicable
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and physical and mental status sufficient to provide quality care to patients
  • Clinical privileges in the physician’s specialty required for hospital owned and operated practice
SUMMARY: Responsible for providing his/her patients with care at the current level of quality and efficiency generally recognized by appropriate practice standards and guidelines applicable to facilities such as the Hospital in the physician’s area of specialty. Responsible for preparing and completing in a timely fashion all medical and other required patient records. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Full-time position working for Brown Health Medical Group, Inc., 167 Point Street, Providence, RI, based full-time at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. May also provide services at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. Responsibilities include conducting initial patient assessments and admissions, formulating and implementing treatment plans, scheduling and reviewing clinical and diagnostic tests, providing updates to primary care physicians and family members, conducting multiple rounds daily as necessary for the acuity of patients’ conditions, coordinating and integrating specialty and subspecialty consultations, coordinating patient transfers to and from the ICU, medical/surgical unit, and or skilled nursing facilities, coordinating discharge planning, and performing administrative duties related to position. Schedule includes 15-16 shifts per month. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an approved medical (allopathic or osteopathic), dental or podiatric school. MD/DO with a valid unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Rhode Island. Board certified or Board eligible as required. Federal Narcotics DEA license required as applicable. Demonstrated clinical competence and physical and mental status sufficient to demonstrate that he/she is able to provide quality care to patients. Clinical privileges in the physician’s specialty required for hospital owned and operated practice.
