The Adult Intensivist provides inpatient critical care in a closed, 28-bed ICU, coordinating with hospital departments to deliver high-quality care to critically ill adults. The role involves rounding on patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary physicians and mid-level providers to ensure appropriate critical care management.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide inpatient critical care in coordination with various hospital departments to ensure high quality patient care to critically ill patients
- • Round on critically ill patients
- • Work with a team of multidisciplinary Physicians and Mid-Levels to allow patients to receive the level and type of critical care they need
- • Manage complex cases, including end-of-life discussions and code status planning
- • Collaborate daily with a team of dedicated specialists, critical nurses, therapists, and case managers during multidisciplinary rounds, daily meetings, and procedures
Required
- • Expertise in ICU procedures (intubations, tracheostomy, chest tubes, central/arterial lines)
- • Strong communication and leadership skills
- • Proven ability to manage complex cases, including end-of-life discussions and code status planning
- • Collaborative, patient-centered approach to care
- • MD or DO degree
- • California Medical License
- • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency
Preferred
- • Fellowship training in Pulmonary and/or Critical Care Medicine preferred (Neurocritical Care also considered)
- • Board Certification in Critical Care Medicine preferred
- • Minimum of 3 years direct Intensivist experience preferred

PIH Health is seeking an Adult Intensivist to join our nationally recognized Critical Care team. We are a community-based hospital in the heart of Los Angeles. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a closed, 28-bed ICU with an average census of 12–15 patients per day, focusing on delivering exceptional, evidence-based care to critically ill adults.

This individual must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with specialists, nursing, patients, families, other hospital departments and administration. The Adult Intensivist rounds on critically ill patients and works with a team of multidisciplinary Physicians and Mid-Levels to allow patients to receive the level and type of critical care they need.
