Radiation Oncologist
The Radiation Oncologist will evaluate, plan, and administer radiation therapy to cancer patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and personalized care. The role involves developing individualized treatment plans, monitoring patient responses, and participating in quality improvement and clinical research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- • Conduct thorough patient evaluations including physical exams, medical history, and diagnostic imaging reviews.
- • Develop individualized radiation treatment plans based on patient needs and current evidence-based practices.
- • Prescribe and oversee the administration of radiation therapy in coordination with dosimetrists and medical physicists.
- • Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on patient responses and side effects.
- • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated patient care.
- • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, reports, and documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
- • Educate patients and families on treatment protocols, expected outcomes, and potential side effects.
- • Participate in tumor boards, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research if applicable.
- • Stay current with advancements in radiation oncology through continued education and professional development.
Required
- • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- • Board certification or board eligibility in Radiation Oncology.
- • Valid and unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility to obtain).
- • Completion of an accredited Radiation Oncology residency program.
- • Strong knowledge of modern radiation techniques, including IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, and brachytherapy.
- • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- • Compassionate patient care philosophy with attention to detail.
Preferred
- • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- • Active involvement in clinical trials or academic research.
- • Fellowship or subspecialty training in areas such as brachytherapy, or stereotactic radiosurgery.
