Instructor/Assistant Professor (Teaching)

This faculty position focuses on teaching and facilitating clinical skills and foundational medical education within the MD Programme. The role involves direct student engagement through simulation-based education, procedural skills training, communication skills, clinical reasoning, and Team-Based Learning facilitation in Phase I, along with contributions to curriculum development and medical education scholarship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver clinical skills teaching in areas including procedural skills, communication skills, history-taking, physical examination, and clinical reasoning.
  • Plan and run simulation-based learning activities in close collaboration with the Simulation Lead.
  • Contribute to the development of faculty guides and support clinical faculty in delivering simulation sessions.
  • Facilitate Team-Based Learning (TBL) sessions in Phase I, including readiness assurance tests and case-based application exercises.
  • Provide timely formative feedback and coaching to support learner development.
  • Support knowledge exam preparation sessions and other structured learning activities as required.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Performance Centre (CPC) and course leads to ensure effective delivery of teaching.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of learning activities aligned with curriculum objectives.
  • Participate in curriculum mapping and periodic curriculum review.
  • Participate in medical education research and scholarly activities within the MD Programme Department and/or the Office of Education.
  • Contribute to presentations, abstracts, or publications related to teaching and learning in medical education.
  • Remain current with trends and innovations in medical education and apply evidence-informed practices to teaching.
  • Participate in committees and task forces within the Medical Education and MD Programme Offices as needed.
  • Participate in and provide support for faculty development activities and other educational initiatives within the institution.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrative units in the delivery of the MD Programme.
  • Support other curriculum-related tasks as assigned by the Associate Dean or MD Programme leadership.
  • Support evaluation and iterative improvement of teaching sessions.
Required
  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum 4–5 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Experience in clinical skills teaching and/or TBL facilitation.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and decision-making acumen.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and contribute to strategic educational goals.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, ensuring smooth collaboration and productivity.
  • Collaborate with course leads to ensure alignment between teaching activities and assessment components.
Preferred
  • Experience in simulation-based or procedural skills education is strongly preferred.
