The Medical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs, delivering direct patient care, mentoring providers, and ensuring clinical excellence. This role supports multidisciplinary care teams, maintains compliance with MAT regulations, and advances organizational growth through leadership and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients receiving MAT for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
- • Prescribe and monitor MAT medications (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone), ensuring safe, effective, and compliant use.
- • Evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust care plans as needed to support optimal recovery.
- • Collaborate with behavioral health providers and peer specialists to ensure integrated, person-centered care.
- • Serve as the clinical leader and subject matter expert for MAT services across assigned clinics.
- • Be available to providers on a day-to-day basis for clinical consultation, guidance, and support.
- • Create and implement medical policies, protocols, and best practices to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality patient care.
- • Educate and mentor the provider team, holding them accountable to clinical, professional, and documentation expectations.
- • Supervise clinical practice, professionalism, and documentation of medical providers.
- • Conduct annual and semiannual performance reviews for supervisees, providing meaningful feedback and development goals.
- • Attend and actively participate in director and leadership meetings to align medical operations with organizational objectives.
- • Independently manage projects assigned by the Senior Medical Director (SMD) or CEO, collaborating with clinic and department leads to ensure timely completion.
- • Support staff morale and well-being, modeling Porch Light Health’s values and commitment to the mission of recovery and compassionate care.
- • Partner closely with counselors, peer recovery specialists, and other healthcare team members to deliver coordinated and holistic care.
- • Monitor provider performance and patient outcomes, leading initiatives for continuous quality improvement.
- • Ensure adherence to all federal and state MAT regulations, documentation standards, and ethical guidelines.
- • Participate in and support the development of clinical workflows and operational efficiencies.
- • Promote understanding of substance use disorders and recovery-oriented care among staff and patients.
- • Stay current with clinical research, treatment guidelines, and best practices in addiction medicine.
- • Provide ongoing education, training, and professional development opportunities for medical providers.
Required
- • Medical degree (MD or DO) with an active, unrestricted license in the state of Colorado/NM or Master's/Doctoral degree in nursing (APRN) or physician assistant (PA) with credible experience.
- • DEA registration
- • Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical experience in addiction medicine, including MAT.
- • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
- • Proven success in guiding multidisciplinary teams and managing regulatory compliance.
- • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities.
- • Excellent interpersonal, mentorship, and communication skills.

Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) with occasional Saturday rotation.
- Primarily in-clinic, with flexibility to provide telehealth when needed.
- Pay range: $160,000 – $185,000 per year for APRN/PA, depending on education, experience, and internal equity.
- Pay range: $180,000 – $225,000 per year for MD/DO depending on education, experience, and internal equity.
