Faculty Associate - Rural Health Tele-Neurology Coverage

Provide general neurology consults via telemedicine for Shore Regional Health on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The role involves tele-rounds and consult coverage during scheduled hours, supported by advanced practice providers, with no in-house or acute stroke/neurocritical care responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general neurology consults via telemedicine
  • Coverage hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with overnight consultative calls handled telephonically
  • No in-house responsibilities
  • No acute stroke or neurocritical care coverage required
  • Supported by advanced practice providers (APPs) who assist with consult coordination, follow-up care, and discharge planning
  • Daily workflow includes morning tele-rounds followed by consult coverage throughout the day
  • Performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide examination and treatment of patients
  • Orders and analyzes appropriate tests and procedures to provide information on patient’s condition
  • Other duties as assigned
Required
  • Doctoral degree in Medicine in area of specialty
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience
  • CPR required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS and/or other relevant certification as required by the department
  • Board certification/eligibility in area of specialty
  • Demonstrated ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, and/or publishing
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific need
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, patient’s families, departmental units, and medical and nursing staff on all essential matters

The Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in collaboration with the University of Maryland Medical System, is seeking a Tele-Neurologist to provide consultative coverage for Shore Regional Health on Maryland’s Eastern Shore (Easton, MD).

This is a fully remote, work-from-home position offering a unique opportunity to support rural health while maintaining excellent work-life balance. Residents from the following states would be considered.

Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, & Maryland.

Position Highlights

  • Schedule: 26 weeks per year

This position offers a volunteer faculty appointment at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Neurology.

Performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide examination and treatment of patients. Orders and analyzes appropriate tests and procedures to provide information on patient’s condition; and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Doctoral degree in Medicine in area of specialty
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience
  • CPR required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS and/or other relevant certification as required by the department
  • Board certification/eligibility in area of specialty

Total Rewards

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
