This faculty position involves teaching and developing the Osteopathic Principles & Practices (OPP) and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM/OMM) curriculum across all four years of the osteopathic medical program. The role includes instruction in skills training, competency development, osteopathic manipulative treatment, curriculum design, assessment, scholarly activity, and mentoring medical students.
Key Responsibilities
- • Teaches in the pre-clinical and clinical OMM curriculum for OMS I–IV
- • Provides instruction in skills training, competency development, and osteopathic manipulative treatment
- • Participates in curriculum design, assessment, and program evaluation
- • Engages in scholarly activity, including research, presentations, and contributions to the academic community
- • Supports departmental initiatives and contributes to the academic mission of the school
- • Serves as a mentor and role model for medical students, promoting the values and philosophy of osteopathic medicine
Required
- • D.O. degree from an accredited osteopathic medical school
- • Demonstrated history of academic teaching and assessment in medical education
- • Minimum of three years of teaching and academic leadership experience in an osteopathic medical school
- • Full-time teaching experience at the discipline or department level in higher education
- • Documented success in teaching and directing clinical sciences courses
- • Active medical license
- • Board certification in NMM/OMM through ABMS or AOA
- • Comprehensive knowledge of osteopathic principles and practices
- • Understanding of osteopathic medical education standards and competency-based assessment
- • Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and safety protocols
- • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- • Proficiency with educational technologies and MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Canvas)
- • Ability to manage multiple academic responsibilities and maintain confidentiality
- • Commitment to collegiality, professionalism, and collaborative academic culture
- • Flexibility to support departmental and institutional needs as assigned

Faculty Position – Osteopathic Principles & Practices / NMM/OMM
The Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (MSOM), located on the campus of Meritus Health in Hagerstown, Maryland, is actively expanding its faculty. As the first new medical school in Maryland in more than a century, MSOM is committed to advancing osteopathic medical education, strengthening the physician workforce, and improving the health of the region through excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
MSOM is part of Western Maryland’s largest healthcare system, serving more than 200,000 residents across the tri‑state area. The D.M. Bowman Academic Hall—a 200,000‑square‑foot, five‑story academic facility—houses advanced simulation centers, laboratories, classrooms, and a conference center designed to support a modern, student‑centered curriculum. Position Description
MSOM invites applications for a faculty appointment in Osteopathic Principles & Practices (OPP) / Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM/OMM). This faculty member contributes to the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of the OMM curriculum across the four‑year osteopathic medical program.

Required Qualifications
Education
