Physician - Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Cardiothoracic Surgeon is responsible for administering and interpreting all aspects of surgical and consultative care in inpatient and outpatient settings, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and surgical intervention for cardiac and thoracic conditions. The role also involves educating patients about preventive care, post-operative recovery, and prescribed treatments, as well as coordinating care as a primary surgical provider.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize patient care.
  • Reviews patient medical charts to diagnose, treat, and provide care management and education to patients and families.
  • Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.
  • Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring the services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group.
  • Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Demonstrates patient centered and patient valued behavior.
  • Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care.
  • Supports academic, educational and research endeavors.
  • Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.
  • Partners and communicates with acumen to build a positive brand and patient/customer experience for those who encounter JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group. This would include health network staff, vendors, outside partners, patients, stakeholders, and local community leaders.
  • Serves as a resource to the community.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required
  • Current Medical Doctor (M.D) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
  • Residency and/or Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Acclaim Multi-Specialty Group, in partnership with John Peter Smith Hospital (JPS Health Network), is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our growing and high-performing surgical team in Fort Worth, Texas.

JPS Health Network serves as the safety net hospital for Tarrant County, with an annual volume of over 127,000 emergency department visits, 60,000 urgent care visits, and a Level I Trauma Center designation. As an urban teaching hospital with a strong academic foundation, JPS offers 18 residency and fellowship programs and a long-standing commitment to medical education and clinical excellence.

Position Details

  • Join a team of two full-time cardiothoracic surgeons delivering comprehensive surgical care at the JPS Main Hospital
  • Perform a wide range of adult cardiac and thoracic procedures, including:
  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
  • Complex valvular surgery
  • Aortic surgery
  • TAVR, ECMO, and robotic thoracic surgery
  • Collaborate with a dedicated cardiac surgery OR team, fellowship-trained and board-certified cardiothoracic anesthesiologists, and a full-time PA team
  • Open to both graduating fellows and experienced cardiothoracic surgeons

Qualifications
