MD Provider-Pain Specialist

This role involves practicing high-quality, patient-centered interventional pain management focusing on improving function and quality of life without reliance on opioids. The physician will work within a multidisciplinary orthopedic and pain management model, providing clinical oversight, performing procedures, and collaborating on operational and service line improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat guests in-office and via telemedicine
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Interpret and document in-house imaging
  • Order appropriate imaging, labs, and referrals
  • Perform interventional pain procedures
  • Prescribe non-opioid medications when clinically appropriate
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR
  • Participate in rare after-hours or weekend call coverage
  • Provide clinical oversight of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • Meet weekly with APPs to review clinical and operational data
  • Conduct quarterly performance and goal-setting meetings
  • Perform monthly chart reviews in accordance with Texas Medical Board guidelines
  • Participate in monthly clinic operations meetings with managers, APPs, and MAs
  • Meet weekly with the procedure scheduling team to review outstanding orders
  • Collaborate weekly and quarterly with DOC leadership to review service-line performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve access, efficiency, and outcomes
Required
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Pain Management (or interventional-focused specialty)
  • Commitment to non-opioid, function-based pain care
  • Comfortable in a leadership role with APP oversight

Direct Orthopedic Care (DOC) is a physician-led, private orthopedic practice seeking a Pain Management Physician to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
