The Non-surgical Podiatrist will work closely with Orthopedic Foot and Ankle surgeons to provide services in inpatient consults and outpatient office settings. The role involves conducting ambulatory clinic patient visits, inpatient consult services, and performing minor procedural services related to podiatry.
Key Responsibilities
- • Conduct daily ambulatory clinic patient visits and travel to multiple locations.
- • Provide inpatient consult services and rounding during regular business hours.
- • Deliver ambulatory clinic-based and hospital inpatient consultative and minor procedural services, including soft-tissue office procedures (e.g., nail or plantar wart excision), anesthesia (topical & local), debridement of superficial ulcers or wounds, excision of skin lesions on the foot and ankle, incision of onychia, onychoplasty, closed reduction of digital and metatarsal fractures, removal of foreign bodies, tenotomy/capsulotomy, digit, musculoskeletal plain film x-ray, and other minor procedures.
- • Assist in developing the inpatient consult service, responding to consult requests, and coordinating rounding before or after clinic visits.
- • Collaborate with Health System partners to establish referral requests for Podiatry services in EPIC and implement the consult process for inpatient units.
- • Work with Physician Liaisons to establish connections with internal referring providers.
- • Support quality improvement initiatives and other defined initiatives under the guidance of the collaborating/supervising physician and Clinical Service Chief of the Department of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
Required
- • Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM)
- • Completion of training from a U.S.-accredited school recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association
- • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Kansas
- • DEA registration in Kansas
- • ABPM Certification

The Department of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at The University of Kansas Health System is currently in search of a dynamic Non-surgical Podiatrist to join our expanding team. Working closely with and reporting to our Orthopedic Foot and Ankle surgeons, the selected candidate will provide exceptional services in both inpatient consults and outpatient office settings.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM)
- Completion of training from a U.S.-accredited school recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the state of Kansas
- DEA registration in Kansas
- ABPM Certification
- Completion of a 3-year CPME residency program
