Provide high-quality psychiatric services on weekends and holidays, supporting Crisis Intervention Services, the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, and urgent consults on Med-Surg floors. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide psychiatric coverage for Crisis Intervention Services (CIS) on weekends and holidays, collaborating closely with mental health professionals.
- • Deliver psychiatric care for the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, working as part of an interdisciplinary team of nurses, social workers, and therapists.
- • Conduct urgent psychiatric consultations for medical‑surgical inpatients across the hospital.
- • Collaborate with and support the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) as needed.
Required
- • MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility (if within 5 years of training) in Psychiatry.
- • Active New Jersey medical license (or eligibility to obtain).
- • Strong diagnostic, communication, and collaboration skills.
- • Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced clinical settings.
Preferred
- • Experience in emergency psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, or consultation‑liaison psychiatry preferred.

Job Description
Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking an experienced Per Diem Psychiatrist to provide high‑quality psychiatric services across the hospital on weekends and holidays. This role supports critical behavioral health functions, including Crisis Intervention Services, the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit and urgent consults on the Med-Surg floors. A minimum annual commitment of six (6) weekend days and/or holidays is required.

We help them cope with the stress and emotional challenges caused by such physical ailments. Our behavioral health team features highly trained psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and licensed clinicians. We provide a variety of mental health services on an inpatient and outpatient basis, including intensive outpatient programs.
