Houston Methodist
This role focuses on unplanned and urgent general surgery, with emphasis on emergency general surgery cases such as acute appendicitis, cholecystitis, small bowel obstruction, perforated viscus, and GI bleeding requiring operative intervention. The position also involves multidisciplinary collaboration with ED, hospitalists, ICU, anesthesia, radiology, and nursing, with APP support and a shared call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- • Primary Focus On Unplanned And Urgent General Surgery
- • Emergency general surgery (EGS): Acute appendicitis, Cholecystitis, Small bowel obstruction, Perforated viscus, GI bleeding requiring operative intervention
- • Soft tissue infections and abscesses
- • Hernias (urgent/emergent)
- • Multidisciplinary collaboration with ED, hospitalists, ICU, anesthesia, radiology, and nursing
- • APP Support
- • Shared call rotation
Required
- • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- • Ability to obtain a Texas medical license or have a Texas medical license in good standing
- • Candidates with experience or new residents/fellows are welcome to apply
