Patient Safety Officer

This role leads strategic patient safety initiatives across the New York City region, overseeing patient safety, quality management, regulatory, and peer-review functions. The position focuses on improving patient outcomes, reducing patient harm, and strengthening a culture of safety and continuous improvement through collaboration with leadership, physicians, staff, and patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading system-wide patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
  • Analyzing safety events, trends, and performance data to implement sustainable improvements
  • Overseeing root cause analyses, peer review, regulatory readiness, and accreditation standards
  • Partnering with executive leadership, physicians, frontline staff, and patients to strengthen a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Supporting education, Just Culture initiatives, safety training, and organizational communication strategies
Required
  • A terminal degree (MD, DO, PhD, DNP, or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of healthcare experience
  • Leadership experience in patient safety, quality improvement, or regulatory affairs
  • Strong analytical, operational, and relationship-building skills
Preferred
  • CPPS, CPHQ, and Lean Six Sigma certifications are highly valued

Patient Safety Officer | NYC Region

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Patient Safety Officer to lead strategic patient safety initiatives across the region. Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer and partnering closely with the System Chief Medical Officer, this highly visible leadership role will oversee patient safety, quality management, regulatory, and peer-review functions while driving measurable improvements in patient outcomes and reducing patient harm.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading system-wide patient safety and quality improvement initiatives
  • Analyzing safety events, trends, and performance data to implement sustainable improvements
  • Overseeing root cause analyses, peer review, regulatory readiness, and accreditation standards
  • Partnering with executive leadership, physicians, frontline staff, and patients to strengthen a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Supporting education, Just Culture initiatives, safety training, and organizational communication strategies


Qualified candidates will possess a terminal degree (MD, DO, PhD, DNP, or equivalent) along with 10+ years of healthcare experience, including leadership experience in patient safety, quality improvement, or regulatory affairs. Strong analytical, operational, and relationship-building skills are essential. CPPS, CPHQ, and Lean Six Sigma certifications are highly valued.

Location: Bronx, NY

Annual Base Salary Range: $225,000.00-$350,000.00

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
