The role specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of high risk or complicated pregnancies, providing consultation for pregnancy-related complications and assisting in maternal transport and prenatal diagnosis through ultrasounds and/or genetic counseling. It also involves examining, diagnosing, counseling, and treating patients within maternal fetal medicine, participating in physician governance and management decisions, and passing on knowledge to learners such as students and residents.
Key Responsibilities

Required
- • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
- • Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license.
- • Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
- • Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Board Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
- • Board-eligible or board-certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine. If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Board Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
- • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) required.
- • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
- • Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
Preferred
- • Prior experience in referenced specialty preferred
- • Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification, but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute
As Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of high risk or complicated pregnancies. They examine patients to ensure proper care and provide consultation for complications associated with pregnancy. They assist in maternal transport and prenatal diagnosis through the use of ultrasounds and/or genetic counseling. They will be expected to pass on their own knowledge to learners, including students and residents, who will be assigned to the employee. The Renown Health chair will identify and maximally utilize those skills in which the employee has demonstrated proficiency interest or expertise.
Nature and Scope
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician’s area of maternal fetal medicine. This position makes critical decisions regarding medical care and works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. This position actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by the Renown Health and its medical staff. This position stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.
